7 Awesome Jobs in CS/IT and their MMORPG CounterParts
The world of IT can be a very confusing and fast paced realm to be in, Specially for those who are unsure of which career path to pursue. All of these however are sincerely rewarding and fun depending on your skills and interests. I've tried a little bit of most of these jobs and I found all of them interesting. So I created a list that may help you choose the right career for you in a geeky sort of way. Here's a list of 7 awesome IT jobs as their MMORPG counterparts. (P.S. They aren't ordered in any sort of way).
Graphic Designers : Summoner
A graphic designer is the one who designs different interfaces which creates engaging and interesting way for the users to interact with a website or a program. Much like summoners they call forth from their mind Awesome and Out of this world creatures that may help them achieve victory. Like summoners though they need a huge pool of mana to bring forth these beasts so they need a clear mind in order to release their creativity. And they also need an array of expensive equipments (software) like Adobe Photoshop and Maya.
System Admins/ Tech Support : Archer/Marksman
Like the Legendary Marksmen of Medieval times IT Admins dish out damage from afar. They help people in trouble with their computers by making Remote Connections. Just like the MMORPG Archer, IT Admins are very versatile, namely because of the amount of knowledge and technical skill it requires when encountering problems specially with a huge company. System Admins must also be dead accurate when it comes to fixing problems because of the Time and Workflow that may be lost the longer the problem occurs.
Search Engine Optimization Specialist (SEO) : Assassin
Mastering the art of Stealth in order to Accomplish a task is what the SEO is about. They harness a wide array of skills not known to many that few people have even recognize the direct effect of their actions, but Thanks to them Top ranking websites enjoy the privilege of being on the first page when browsing search engines and this helps a lot in order for Company Businesses to be seen by the world. They really are like Assassins who are silent but Deadly.
System Analyst/QA: Swordsman
The front liners of the IT industry. They are the ones who interface with the Clients (Monsters) and the one brave enough to coordinate with *cue horrific sound effect -The Bosses. Yup, Being a Systems Analyst may be scary but it has an advantage as they are the ones who mostly lead the team and the ones most people could rely on when it comes to Software Development. They are the ones who still get their heads straight even when a third of their Guild have their HP to zero but still remain standing until the end.
Database Admins: Merchant
Database Admins are the ones to keep in check of all the items (data) needed for a questing party. Whether it's a health potion or a nice +7 Broadsword she's the one to count on to keep the party intact. Database Administrators are required to be very organized because the Foundations of the developed system relies on how they work.
Computer Technician: BlackSmith
Computer Technicians are the modern blacksmiths of our time. They help create and repair equipment critical for completing our quests. Without them you might still be using your lowly P4 computers instead of the Rare CoreI7 when getting tasks done in work. It's like having your weapon to zero durability when facing the Boss of the dungeon you're exploring. Yeah, Either way you're screwed.
Software Developers/Programmers: Wizards
Masters of the arcane magic, Programmers use their great knowledge of magic(Programming) to cast Unbelievable spells and make things happen that aren't possible by normal means. Much like Wizards, Programmers constantly engage in research and study as Arcane Magic continue to change and develop in itself as the Technology advances. As an apprentice wizard though I still rely on a Spell book (Google) to cast Awesome spells but I don't mind.
